On many of the Honda ATV models, the ignition process is initiated by the Ignition Pulse Generator, which is located near the stator. The pulse generator is cruicial, because without it, you have no ignition. In spite of its importance, I have never seen it mentioned in these forums. If the pickup module fails, the ignition module will never receive the signal, and it won't fire the plugs. The purpose of the blinking light test you did is to see if the ignition module is trying to strobe the coil.
